Overview

A diploma programme in Photography and camera handling at JIT is designed for individuals interested in photography and want to develop their technical skills and creativity in capturing images. The program covers the basic principles of photography, including composition, lighting, and camera settings. It also covers the use of different types of cameras, from basic point-and-shoot to professional-grade DSLRs.

The JIT Photography program offers an immersive and dynamic learning experience that goes beyond the traditional classroom setting. The program fosters a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that makes students feel comfortable and engaged throughout their lessons.

The program includes theoretical and practical classes that allow students to learn the technical aspects of photography such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and exposure, as well as the creative aspects of composition, lighting, and post-processing. The program offers an introduction to a wide variety of different photographic genres – weddings, nature, landscapes, wildlife, portraits, studio, still life and more. Additionally, students will learn about the different types of photography, such as portrait, landscape, and action photography.

The program also includes workshops and field trips to provide students with the opportunity to practice their skills and apply what they have learned to real-world scenarios. Throughout the program, students will have the opportunity to work on various photography projects and assignments that will help them to develop their own photographic style. They will be provided with feedback and guidance from experienced instructors to help improve their work.

Upon completion of the program, students will have a solid foundation in photography and camera handling and will be able to produce high-quality images for a variety of purposes, including personal, commercial and artistic projects. They will also have a portfolio of their work that can be used to showcase their skills to potential employers or clients.

The Video Coverage and Editing program at Japhson Institute of Technology is a comprehensive program that provides students with a strong foundation in video production.

In the second year of the Video Coverage and Editing program at Japhson Institute of Technology, students will build on the foundational skills learned in the first year and further their knowledge in video post-production, sound design, video editing, special effects and motion graphics, and legal and ethical issues in video production. They will also have the opportunity to work on a video production project and learn about career preparation in the field, as well as be introduced to marketing and advertising. These courses aim to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the video production industry and be well-prepared for their future careers.

Requirments

1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS

Credits in three (3) SSSCE /WASSCE Core Subjects: (Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science) plus three (3) credits in the Elective Subjects with an aggregate score of 24 or 36 respectively.

2. ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS

Applicants should have Five (5) Credits at ‘O’ Level including Mathematics and English Language. They should also have (two) 2 passes at ‘A’ Level in Mathematics, and other two electives.

3. MATURE APPLICANTS

Applicants must be 25 years at the time of submitting the application. Must have either Five credits at the “O” Level including Mathematics, English Language, and any other two electives OR WASSCE/SSSCE credits in three (3) Core Subjects (Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science), plus credits in any three (3) Elective Subjects (.

4. INTERNATIONAL BACCALAURETTE

Applicants must have science background (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, etc.) They must obtain a distinction, credit or pass as decided by the jury. They should also be proficient in English. This is checked through written exams, verbal interview and certification from a recognized language institution.
