Overview
A Diploma programme in architecture provides students with a basic understanding of the principles and practices of architecture. The program typically covers a range of topics including design fundamentals, building materials and construction methods, building codes and standards, site analysis and planning, architectural design, and professional practice. It's a great option for those who want to gain knowledge and skills in architecture, but do not want to commit to a full degree program. The program is designed to be flexible and can be completed in a shorter period of time than a degree program.
Students will learn to use industry-standard software and tools, and will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects. Upon completion, students will have the knowledge and skills needed to enter the profession or continue their education in a degree program. The program will also provide students with the opportunity to develop a portfolio that can be used to showcase their work to potential employers.
The program is designed to cover the following areas of study:
- Architectural history and theory
- Design fundamentals
- Architectural graphics and visualization
- Building materials and construction methods
- Structural analysis and design
- Building systems and technology
- Sustainability and environmental design
- Professional practice and ethics
The program also includes studio courses that give students the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge to real-world design projects, allowing them to develop their creative problem-solving skills in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Upon completion of the Architecture program at JIT, students will have a strong foundation in the principles and practices of architecture, and will be well-prepared to pursue a career in the field.
